Program to improve the drinking water service in the Altamira
This program, financed with 10 million euro from the European Union allocated to Spain, began in 2021 by the Nicaraguan public water and sewerage company, ENACAL.
This project, which also has a US$10 million loan from the IADB, will help provide 247,000 people with a 24-hour drinking water service, reducing the amount of unbilled water by up to 15.15% and increasing water collection, which will make the service sustainable.
The overall objective is to improve the population’s living conditions and contribute to the practical realization of the Human Rights to Water and Sanitation
